:-D
Hey ya! How do you like the new look?
Hope you like it! I'm still trying :)
Today is Wednesday, May 27th.
Happy Birthday, Sis!! Hope you have a great celebration dinner with your buddies yesterday :D
Wednesday ---> Broadway Day!
I have wanted to watch another show since the previous one.
But, I woke up pretty late today, at 11am, and didn't get to the City until 1pm.
And, Wednesday show usually, if not always, starts at 2pm. Plus, I'm having a little hard time locating the "Phantom of the Opera" theater. When I actually got there at 1.40pm, they did have the $26.50, but it's a standing ticket. Yeah, I do love to watch it. But, standing for 2 hours? Not a good idea! I'll do it next time, maybe August, when I get back from work. Hopefully.
What should I do then? Red Mango Frozen Yogurt might be a good way to start my day. I had a green tea yogurt with 3 toppings (cost me a fortune...) By the way, I only realized that there is a Red Mango in Times Sq when I was walking down the street. Yeah, there is no need to go to the Koreantown if I'm carving for one next time! I started planning my trip then.... Actually, I made a to-go-list yesterday as Plan B just in case I didn't watch a Broadway show. Some places that are on my list was Greenwich Village and SoHo --> the Bohemian districts that were highly recommended by my Art-History-major ex-roommate. The Forbes Gallery that kept a collection of Toy Boats, Toy Soldiers etc was situated in the area. It is kind of interesting. BUT, too bad, I left my list in my room... I was too tired to put it in my purse yesterday... Aiyo!
So, Plan C. Brooklyn Bridge. I kind of remember where it's located when I browsed through the website yesterday. And, I guessed the Green Train would bring me there. Since I had no place to go, I might as well try my luck. After all, I planned to walk on the bridge last time. Alright, I would just do it..
As I was walking towards the subway station, a guy accidentally knocked me on my arm. The impact was so great that I let go of my unfinished yogurt. Damn, there go my 7 bucks! The part that annoyed me the most was that he didn't even notice what he had done, and so, didn't even utter a sorry! %^&*! Was that an antic of a busy New Yorker? Hate you!
There was no point crying over a spilled milk, or yogurt. I should enjoy my outing with a happy heart. I took a subway at 41st St, changed 3 subways on my way to the Brooklyn Bridge coz I didn't really know how to get there until I saw a map in the subway (it's foc to change the subway so it's not a big deal! ;) Finally, I found a way to get to the Green 6 subway (the same train to the Japanese st.) The Bridge was at the final stop.
The moment I walked out from the underground station, I saw the City Hall with a big "Manhattan" carved on the top of the building. I saw the building on the net yesterday. Wait a minute... the place seemed familiar. I've been the place before! With Mellisa, during CNY last year! Duh, I didn't even realize that the building was City Hall by then :S ...
Ok, Brooklyn Bridge.. Where was it? I'll save from elaborating on how I got there. Took me some time coz I didn't dare to ask the police officer (they didn't look that friendly...) I'm glad that I found it before I g
ave up. Many people were walking on the Bridge. Some were visitors. Some were normal people. The Bridge was concrete at the beginning and wooden in the middle. It's kind of scary walking on it because there were so many cars passing by your side. It does have a special lane for cyclists and pedestrians. But, the "Druuum, druuuumm" sound just made me feel uneasy (one of the reason I'm afraid of driving...) I took a bunch a picture on the Bridge. I walked until the middle of Bridge. It took me around half an hour coz I stopped frequently for pictures.

Taken by a stranger from Ipoh ~ what a coincident encounter!

After the small stroll, I went back to the City Hall place. From there, I walked to Chinatown. It's around 7-8 blocks north.... I didn't feel tired during the walk coz it's interesting to see buildings along the street (but now while writing this, I do feel the muscle sore...) Finally, I was there after 30 minutes. I stopped by a book store (or gift shop?) and bought few cards while trying to find a graduation gift for Silvia, the graduate student in my lab. But, no luck. Nothing was interesting there. I went to a accessories store by the Columbus Park. Everything was 50% off! WoW!
I walked around Chinatown. Ate some yam cake and tong shui, Yummy! I was trying to find the Nyonya restaurant, but to no avail... Bad memory :( So, I had dinner at a random place... and go home after that, I was too tired for walking all day....
This will be my last to trip to NYC before leaving NJ! Til then!
Hope you like it! I'm still trying :)

3am

Graduation, graduation and graduation
Ya, this week is the Rutgers Commencement Week. There were as many as 12 ceremonies going on starting from Monday until today, the Friday. So, what I did these two days were attending commencement, commencement and more commencement...
Comet, my housemate, had his on Tuesday. I didn't get t o attend his graduation ceremony because I went to BBQ instead.. But, his parents and Tiere were here and they had a little celebration in the house :)
Yesterday was Yati's graduation ceremony. She and Cindy were the first batch of JPA scholars (after all these years) graduated from Douglass College. So, all the girl sophomores, Fahzan, Foo and I attended her commencement to celebrate it :) It's too bad that Cindy flew home 3 weeks earlier. She sure deserved the ceremony and celebration... Although I've been in Rutgers for 3 years, it was the first Rutgers commencement I've ever attended. We took lotz of pictures during the procession, will upload it in my FB later!
After that, we went for lunch at Efes. They served nice turkey food :P It was a treat from Yati's dad. But, kinda felt bad coz there were 20 of us, and I'm sure the check came close to RM1000... Thank you Yati's dad and Congratulations, Yati! (You did it in 4 years!)
Then, I rushed to the Rutgers College and School of Art and Science (SAS) Commencement. Yin Ling graduated from SAS. It was at the Voorhees Mall ---> Outdoor! Luckily, there were lotz of trees there. It was as hot as summer yesterday though it's still spring... But, I moved to the internal viewing room after a while for AC and better view :p Moreover, it's a looooooooong ceremony with 1000++ students walking. I'm not going to sit under the sun for that. I spotted Dan, my super-quiet housemate, in the ceremony. What a coincdence! The ceremony lasted for 4 bloody hours... Huh! Lotz of picture taking after the ceremony. Then, we went to Woojeong (my favorite Korean Restaurant!) for a little celebration dinner. I guessed it's the last dinner I had with Yin Ling. We used to go out every Thursday for dinner and bubble teas... I'll definitely miss the dinner day and Yin Ling. She is flying back to Taiwan in the mid June. I wondered when we'll meet again after we bid farewell yesterday... 1 year? 2 years? 10 years? ....
People come and go. But, I'm glad I had you guys in my college life. Without you, my Rutgers experience will not be the same, and I'll forever cherish the moment we had together!
Good luck to Yati, Cindy, Yin Ling, Comet and brothers of AZ! Hope you guys find your path of life!

:-) Movie Day~
2 more weeks before I left.
So much time yet so little thing to do. Depressing.
Thinking of going for a short vacation or sth yet last minute air tix is just way to expensive.
I'm not as rich as sb XP
So today, juniors and I went to a nearby shopping complex for movies.
We watched 3 movies from 1pm until 7pm, watch till my eye tearing.....
We went for "Angels and Demons", "Star trek" and "Wolverines". Of all, I think I like "Angels and Demons" the most coz it was full of suspense. I wished I can watch it again coz sometimes they talked so fast that it's hard to catch what is going on without subtitles XP
The 6-hour movie marathon really made me exhausted at the end. It was the 1st time I felt tired from watching movies. Maybe, it's just too much though it's fun at first... Phew....
After that, we went for dinner and shopping. I bought a shirt from Pacsun and 2 pairs of jeans from AA. One of the jeans was only $6. Ya, SIX BUCKS :o So cheap!!! Me and Aisha couldn't believe our eyes when we watched the casher scan the price tag. Since it's so cheap, we went back to look for more. But, too bad, we couldn't find anything that fit us...Or else.... Hehehe.. :)
it's was a fun trip. hopefully we can go there again next week for shopping :D

:)
Yesterday, I woke up very early, as early as 8.30am.
I was supposed to go to the Keio Academy to watch Kendo competition. But, due to limited space in Alex's car, I didn't get to go. Since I had nothing today and had a looooong day to kill, I decided to go to the City. As first, I planned to go to Metropolitan museum or MOMA to look at some pictures. But then, I didn't think I was in mood to see the pictures. After all, Van Gogh's starry night is not in the museum yet. So, I decided to walk around Times Square to do some shopping.
So, at 1pm, I was in Times Square. As usual, there were so many people there, especially on the sunny Sunday. I walked into few stores and decided that I was not in the mood for shopping as well. Things in Times Square were just too expensive and most of them were meant for tourists.
So, since I was in Broadway St, I might as well try my luck to get a cheap ticket for any Broadway show. <> was my 1st choice as I've wanted to watch it since last summer. I tried to find the theater from my memory since I didn't have the address. I was lucky enough to have found it just right before I asked the cop :) Lucky! Lucky!
When I was about to turn into the corner where the theater was located, I saw a big huge staircase like stage, I'm not sure whether it's a staircase or stage. Just something huge. Anyway, I decided that I'll check it out later. I bought my ticket at the booths. It's weird that no one was queuing up for the tickets, it's Sunday after all! I was expecting only 50% chance of getting a ticket for the mermaid show... Weird.. Anyway, I was glad that I got a ticket... with a student price! (The ticket seller asked me how many students are there in Rutgers (' ')lll It's a tricky question.... )
Ok, I bought my ticket -- a 3pm show. I still have 1 and a half hour, just enough for me to have my lunch :) But, before that, I just needed to check to the big stage. Curiosity kills the cat... and me! You know wat the stage for?? It's a ticket counter for all Broadway shows set up by Theater Development Fund. And, they are giving out 50% off for almost all the Broadway tickets, including <>! Sheuuuuut!!!!! No wonder no one was buying tickets in the theater. Anyway, the queue was long at the counters. I don't mind paying 5 bucks more if I can save my time :)
I had my lunch at McDonald's (trying to save some money, Broadway ticket wasn't that cheap....). I got a McFlurry since I haven't had it for years. But then, after reading the calories information about the meal, only did I realize that the little thing contained 580 Cal! It's 1/3 of my calories intake for a day! It's indeed a devil food, and I better go to the gym after drinking the thing..... Guilty. Guilty. Guilty. I finished my lunch in an hour, just in time for the show... Ya, I could eat the sandwich faster, but, why rush? It's Sunday after all :p
Back to the theater. The door was open at 2.45pm. After I showed the usher my ticket, she leaded me to the 3rd row. Ya, 1,2,3, 3rd row! Holy crap?? 3rd row? What am I going to watch? The performers' underwear? But, nothing can be done.. It's a Sunday show, and I bought the cheapest ticket.. (Actually I expected to sit at the back rows coz it was what they usually did).
So, the show began at 3.15pm. It wasn't that bad at all. I could see the performance pretty well. Since they are right in front of me, I could actually see the facial expressions of the performers. From that distance, I found that Ariel was a very pretty actress while Prince Eric was super gorgeous and handsome! Besides, the conductor was conducting the band right in front of me :D I must say it's a very different Broadway experience...
The whole performance was breathtaking. The light, the stage, the music, the customes, the performers were simply awesome and perfect! Too bad no pictures are allowed in there , or else I would have taken lotz of pictures. I always like to watch Broadway shows in Times Square because you can always count on the quality of the shows. One more thing about the performers are that they are really professional. They can dance, sing and act at the same time, and also, hit every single high notes! Since I was sitting at the 3rd row, I can actually the male lead's (Prince Eric) throat trembling with rhythms as he sang out every single word. It's just amazing! AMAZING! AMAZING! AMAZING! OMG, I'm seriously addicted to Broadways show. The next shows I wanted to watch are <>, <>, and <>! Times to switch and watch some "adult" shows :)
The shows lasted for 2 hours. Since it's still early, I decided to go to St. Marks to eat some Japanese food :) I had a big bowl of Udon at Udon West. I like to eat there because the restaurant is owned by a Japanese, and I felt like I was in Japan everytime I went there :P By the way, the food was not bad. It had the best Udon I had so far. The noodles were always chewy and yummy! After taken the hearty meal, I went to the Red Mango for the Yogurt!! I've craved for it since spring break! I bought a pomegranate yogurt with 3 toppings. It cost me a fortune, but it's ok coz it's the FROZEN YOGURT you can never found in New Brunswick!
Time to go home after the dinner. I took the subway back to Times Square and managed to catch the 8.30pm bus. So, it's the end of my another NYC trip. I wondered when I go there again. Hopefully, no long later coz I'm dying for another Broadway show :)

Tonight, we went to Shi Gu and Shi Bo's house for dinner. It was a little welcoming party for Bill's wife since she just arrived at US not long ago. The gathering was nice and relaxing. It's entertaining listening to their conversations about Taiwan at 2 different eras - Shi Bo's good old day and Tian Yuan's stories. Someday, someday, I must visit Taiwan :) They also talked about hospitals in Taiwan. It's surprising to know that the hospitals actually have little malls in it so that the family members of the patients can kill some time while waiting for the sick one undergoing treatments. So, the waiting is no longer as boring as it was. Sounds fantastic, right? In fact, most of hospitals have the little mall, including Tzu Chi Hospitals! And, some people go to the hospitals for the sake of shopping. Can you believe it? Maybe, hospital in M'sia should do that too :) With that, we'll hear less complaints about medicinal teams being ineffective since ppl will forget the pain of waiting through shopping, right? :D
On the journey back home, T. Yuan decided to use the small road as to avoid seeing any animal carcasses, esp. deers', on the highway. So, I got to see the different nite scenery on the way back. I realized that many of the office buidings along the roads were covered in glass. In fact, I can see through the interiors when the lights in the offices were turn on --> I felt like I was looking a naked ___ XP There were also pretty nice houses on the roadside, that kind of house we always saw in American movie, but never found in New Brunswick. Suddenly, I felt that I'm indeed studying oversea. At the moment, my heart was whispering, "How good if I owned a car! Then, I could travel in different places and explore different parts of US!" I remembered when we're young, papa always brought us to some "exotic" places. Not really that exotic with monsters or dinasours, but just some countryside places or places where other kids' parent will never drive to. Maybe because of the childhood memory, I have alway liked to travel. Sitting in the car and watching the scenery along the way is always relaxing to me. If I had a car, I'll definitely explore the places as I wished! But, I can never afford the car insurance though I can buy a crappy car. By the way, I still need to driving before talking about anything else. So, for now, I'll just travel with public transportations and explore places where buses, trains, planes, and also friends' cars can bring me too....
Ok, it's very late d... Need to sleep d. Nite!

6th day
It's been 6 six days since I was done with my exams.
Life is comfortable and relaxing, I must admit.
I've watched 14 episodes of <> in 4 days.
No, I didn't pull an all nighter to watch the drama coz I slept rather early these few days -- as early as 11.30pm. Look, how much time I spent on the drama. In fact, I just watched <>. It was funny but the storyline was so-so... Ah, life is getting bored and dry with all the drama watching....
In my head, I was planning on some short vacations. But, with some many things going on and so many thing undone, I just can't. Besides, it's just too late for me to go anywhere far since the flight tix will be so expensive... I should have planned the vacation early....
Yesterday was the last day of exams. Students have been slowly moving out of their apartment since yesterday. When I was walking to the lab this morning, I saw no one on the street and the bus stop. The school was so quiet...and lonely. I can't stay here anymore! I wanna go somewhere!! Please, take me outta here!
Maybe, maybe, I should go to the City. Tierre works in Manhattan, and she's still fine. So, I guess I'm not that lucky to get the flu, right? At least, I got my masks :) Should I go? Should I not go? Aiyo.... I can't stay in New Brunswick and watch Taiwanese dramas for 3 weeks! I
should go home right after the exams on May 8th. Bad planning....

X)
The result for 4 subjects are out. And YES, I am entitled an IPOD Touch ... by myself.
Should I buy I know or should I wait until the end of summer??
It has been 4 days since I'm done with finals. What did I do in these four days?
As you know, it was Wesak Day on Sunday. So, I spent the whole Saturday and Sunday in Tzu Chi Headquarter in North Jersey to prepare for the big event. On Saturday, I helped out in preparing meals ~ rice ball (fan tuan) with seaweeds ~ for the visitors. We spent the whole afternoon wrapping 1400 rice balls. It was tiring but fun because Shi Gus were telling jokes all the time :)
On Sunday - the Wesak Day, we prayed and watched performances by the kids from the Chinese Schools. Approximately 600 visitors joined us in the event. Wesak Day Prayer is usually the largest event we had in the whole year.
On Monday and Tuesday, I basically did nothing interesting.
On Monday morning, I tabled for AZ Book Buyback for 3 hours straight. Then, I went to College Ave to apply for a new I20. Then, I had an early dinner with Yin Ling at 5pm. I spent the rest of the night watching boring Taiwanese drama and fell asleep at 11.30pm.
Yesterday, the Tuesday, I worked in the lab to earn some money for my summer vacation though I have no idea where I can go in the midst of swine flu (JPA didn't even allow us to join the Midwest Game in Illinois). Then, Yin Ling came to my house to have lunch --> leftover rice ball from Tzu Chi.. We surfed the net and listen to Jay Chou's and Fish Leong's musics. What a relaxing but super boring afternoon... After I had ebough of the boredness, I decided to bake something nice --- red bean baked nian gao or so called mochi cake... I must say the product is too sweet because I used too much sugar.... Digustingly sweet..I might do the second attempt next week ;) Later that evening, Stacey , Kai Li and I went to haad sushi buffet. It was teh same place we had buffet with the Japanese uncle 3 years ago. The sushis were fantastic, and I had 5 full plates of foods --- I can eat a lot, you can see it through my 2nd sister :P
Ok, really need to go now. Have to do the 2-hour tabling again now....

End of junior year
My junior year OFFICIALLY ended today after I took the Food Analysis exam.
My finals finished quite early this semester, on the 2nd day of the final exam period.
I still remembered I had an exam on the final hour of the final day of the final week last spring.
Everyone was celebrating while I was still studying for Statistics. This year, I get to enjoy my freedom earlier :D
I must say the finals really took up all my time. We had a farewell party for our seniors this time last week. But, I still felt it just happened yesterday. 7 days just passed like seconds. Sometimes, homework and exams just made me forget how to enjoy and cherish life.....
Talking about summer plan,
At first, my friend and I plan to go to Canada after the finals. But, with the swine flu outbreak, we had to postpone it... I wonder whether I have chances to visit Canada this summer. Keep my fingers crossing....
Now, I have 3 weeks before leaving New Brunswick. I have no idea what I should do, where I should go, what I should eat? Too many things I want to do, but too little idea on where to begin doing them. Must make the fullest out of my last summer in US..
Since I have nothing planned out yet so far, I'll just work in the lab next week for the time being. $$ is always the important element when talking about vacations. Agree?
And for this weekend, I'll be spending with fellow Tzu Chings because Sunday is WESAK DAY and MOTHER'S DAY! Happy mother's day, Mama! And, tomorrow, if I come back to New Brunswic by 2pm, I will be having dinner with my big :) Hopefully, I can make it!
I was thinking of dying my hair. My hair has been black for the past three years. It's time for change! What color should I choose? Dark brown, dark red, dark purple? Any suggestions? Not too funky though...
And ya, I've promised myself an Ipod Touch if I get at least 4 A in the final X)
[I'll spare the Biochem and Writing --> I'm never good at them :'( ]
So, pray hard for me!
If you don't want me to get an Ipod, please DO NOT pray that I didn't get at least 4A.
I'll curse you! Definitely.
