U visit

I'm in California now, visiting my possible future school. Everything went well so far. I didn't meet any faculty yet, only had dinner with a couple of grad students. Life is great here according to them. The atmosphere was different here compared to Rutgers. It's more college town like here. The campus is expanding as I saw many construction going on. I guessed they didn't face much budget cut as in New Jersey.

One thing I really like about the school is the biking system here. Apparently, it's one of the pioneer in trying out baking system in US. Almost every student owns a bike. Many major roads in the school are closed for cars and are only accessible through walking and biking. I really like it coz as you know, I love to bike and I can't drive :P

Life was pretty hectic for the past few weeks. Attended 2 conferences which I think it's kinda waste of time. But, at least, they got me out from my crazy schedule. Thesis rough draft is due on the 16th. I'm almost 90% done with it coz my research was a complete failure and I didn't have much to say. The poster for poster presentation is 85% done coz again, I didn't have much to present. There is a 20-minute presentation on Thursday for food microbiology class. Thanks to my superb teammate, Lauren, who compiled all the slides, the rest of us didn't have to do anything but just to present for ~4 minutes each on Thursday. A quiz for Plant Gene Transfer is scheduled tomorrow, but since I was out of town, I requested to take it on Friday. But, my professor's response was that only 2 out of 3 quizzes would be counted into the final grade, and I did pretty well in the first 2, I could opt not to take the 3rd one. Love Dr. Chin, but I finished studying 3.5 out of 5 lecture notes on the plane :S (btw, Dr. Chin is my Malaysian professor who speaks with the familiar Malaysian accent :) ... Everything sorts of falling in place so far except for one thing.....

It's the 15-page Geography paper!! It's 0% done. I kinda take the course for fun, just to fill in some time and learn about other countries. But, the paper is kinda freaking me out. I've been proscratinating the paper since before spring break. Now, it's gonna due next week, I'm so freaked out! Seriously, I have never written any non scientific paper, let alone Earthquakes in Indonesia. Screw myself, seriously! (can someone motivates me to write it, please :'(
